We are a group of Oregon families aiming to improve our state’s educational and screening protocols for cCMV

What is cCMV?

Congenital Cytomegalovirus is the most common infectious cause of birth anomalies and developmental disabilities in children.

~1 in 200 babies is born with a congenital CMV infection.

~ 1 in 5 babies with cCMV will have birth anomalies or other long-term health issues.

. . . and yet, the majority of expectant parents have never heard of it. None of us had.

What are we doing about it?

We are introducing a bill in Oregon legislature with solutions to prevent cCMV and reduce its impact of cCMV.

  1. Education: provide a pamphlet to expectant parents during an early prenatal appointment describing simple, effective prevention measures.

  2. Screening: babies born with an indicator of cCMV will receive a cCMV test. Treatment and early intervention can make a world of difference.

Join us!

Help us get our bill across the finish line.

After a great deal of research and planning, we are excited to put our bill forward in the next legislative session. We have a great champion in the legislature and momentum pulling us forward.

Families - We want to hear from you! Come join our efforts, there is no role too small. From asking your representative to support the bill or lobbying with us in Salem or so much more!

Organizations, medical providers, community members - sign on in support of our bill, and ask your legislator to do the same!

Legislators - sign on in support of our bill!

We are taking up this fight so families can avoid this challenging journey of unknowns, and be better equipped to prevent or treat cCMV.

Oregon children and their parents deserve better. We can do this!
